Debit Card

You are strongly recommended to open a savings account with the Bank of China shortly after your arrival. Bank of China’s website is http://www.boc.cn and service hotline is 86 10 95566.

Required Documents:

Valid passport (if you ever opened a bank account in China with a different passport, you are requested to bring both passports);

Admission Notice;

Temporary Residence Form;

A valid Chinese phone number (for receiving and entering verification code);

Visa;

Cash (you should bring at least RMB 20).

Notes:

Please keep the slip well (the bank will give you back a slip that states your detailed bank account information) or take a photo of the slip for record in case you need the information in the future.

You do not need to get a credit card in China.
